IDS Field Schools
Combine academic learning with hands-on experience through the International Development Studies (IDS) summer field schools. Field schools are arranged each year in either an international or Canadian location and allow you to earn credits towards your degree.
Taught by a U of G instructor, IDS field schools typically incorporate an on-campus component followed by 2-3 weeks "in the field" learning about the location/context and a development-focused topic. Where will your experiential learning take you?
Past GIDS Summer Field Schools include (not currently offered):
- Rural Poverty and Social Businesses in Guatemala (Summer 2018)
- Costa Rica Field School: Global Justice, Peace and Development (Summer 2019)
- Yukon Field School on Food Security in Northern Canada (Summer 2019)
- Ecuador Field School on Sustainable Livelihoods and Global Environmental Change (Summer 2019 and Summer 2022)
