GIDSA supports Black Lives Matter
The Graduate International Development Student Association (GIDSA) would like to acknowledge the historical and ongoing events of police brutality and systemic racism found across North America and the world. GIDSA stands firmly with Black communities, organizations, students, and their families. Please find below a compiled list of resources to spread awareness and action on Black legacies in this collective movement to bring justice. Now is the time to acknowledge the power and privileges we hold in society. We must educate ourselves on how to be allies during our modern-day civil rights movement. To the Black community, GIDSA is here for you, we support you, and we want to amplify your voices. If there is anything we can do to support you please let us know.
GIDSA is a safe space for you. Black Lives Matter. ❤️
We also recognize that Canada, too is deeply rooted in racist history and we must stand in solidarity and actively work towards dismantling structural oppression across the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities.
When You’re Done: Educate Yourself. This Doesn’t Go Away Once The Topic Isn’t “Trending.”
