GIDS Practitioner-in-Residence
Susan MacGregor
Susan is an international development specialist with over 15 years experience in the International Relief and Development Industry. She spent 12+ years based overseas providing direct services to victims of natural disasters and conflict. While based in the US, she held such positions as African Regional Manager and Vice President-Field Support.
Susan has worked with a number of agencies including Air Serv International, the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society), World Vision and UNHCR focusing on the management and logistics of operating and delivering development solutions in difficult locations. She has worked in the following countries on a variety of development and relief situations: Indonesia, Chad, Sudan, DR Congo, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Angola, Mozambique and Liberia.
Susan most recently held the position of Program Coordinator-International Development Graduate Certificate program at Humber College from 2009-2026.
Susan holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management, an MBA and a Masters of Disaster and Emergency Management. She is currently working on her PhD dissertation focused on disaster preparedness in the higher education sector
Susan MacGregor is the inaugural GIDS Practitioner-in-Residence for the 2026-27 academic year. In this role, she is facilitating a professional mentorship program for students enrolled in the Master of Development Practice and Global Justice program, participating in career/professional development activities, and is available to meet with undergraduate and graduate students to provide professional guidance.
